National Core Indicators (NCI)

  Overview

The National Core Indicators (NCI) project helps Minnesota make informed improvements to systems that support older adults and people who have a physical, intellectual, or developmental disability. Vital Research works with Minnesota on this project to gather opinions, feedback, and personal experiences about the services received from the state. There are two ways Vital Research collects opinions and feedback:

  1. Interviews with service recipients
  2. Mailed or online surveys for family members or guardians

Vital Research's trained interviewers will meet with adults who receive services through the Minnesota Department of Human Services in person, by video call, or by phone call (phone is permissible for the AD survey only) to learn how well the services they receive meet their needs and how the services could be improved. This survey will give you the opportunity to share your opinions, feedback, and personal experiences about the services received from the state.

Key Details About NCI

Here are some things you should know about the NCI project:

  • Participation is voluntary.
  • Your choice will not impact the services you receive.
  • The interview takes about 45 minutes to complete.
  • The interview will be conducted either in person OR remotely over Zoom video conference or phone call (AD only).
  • You can participate using a desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or phone (AD only).
  • Your responses and information will be kept private.
  • If you need help taking part in the NCI project you can choose someone, such as a family member or friend, to help you. You cannot receive help from case managers because they assist with the services you receive.
